Presenting a new era of smart TV

Back to Overview

Before smart TV, watching a soccer game used to be pretty linear: pre-match analysis, then the game, followed by some post-match reporting and the match highlights. But with smart TV, the world of sports entertainment has changed: Digitization has launched TV into a new era.

To explore what all this means, Samsung asked me to host a panel discussion on the future of televised soccer. The event at the Mindspace innovation hub in Berlin featured guests like Oliver Kahn, Vice President of Sky Sport Roman Steurer, Head of Marketing at DAZN Benjamin Reininger and Head of Pro7 Sports Zeljko Karajica. Some panelists were partners, others were competitors. But one thing they all had in common: Their digitization-driven ideas all put the customer at the center, whether smart TV, new apps or new formats.

“We want to give each and everyone the freedom to decide what they want to see, when and how – that’s what our app DAZN is about,” said Benjamin Reininger. Roman Steurer adds: “As long as we can give our viewers goosebumps, we are certainly doing things right. Thanks to new technologies, this is made even easier. We can now create and deliver content when and wherever our customers are.”
